1.2 THE UNIVERSITY’S VISION, MISSION, AND CORE VALUES
1.2.1 VISION
The University of Mindanao envisions to be a leading globally engaged university creating sustainable impact in society.
1.2.2 MISSION
The University of Mindanao seeks to provide a dynamic learning environment through the highest standard of instruction, research, extension, and production in a private non- sectarian institution committed to democratizing access to education.
1.2.3 CORE VALUES
Core values prescribe the collective attitude and character of an organization. They signify good conduct that guides all the individual and collective behavioral actions of all university administrators, academic executives, faculty, staff, and the entire studentry, even the graduates and alumni. They dictate how the university transacts with all its stakeholders, including parents and guardians, government regulators, industry collaborators, community partners, as well as all its contractors and suppliers. They likewise define the distinctive attributes of graduates and alumni, who are expected to continue to adhere to and live by these core values as good citizens of the country.
1.3 QUALITY POLICY AND OBJECTIVES
1.3.1 FOR ITS QUALITY ASSURANCE SYSTEM IN THE NEW ISP CYCLE WITH A CENTENNIAL OUTLOOK, THE UNIVERSITY ADHERES TO THIS QUALITY POLICY:

As strategic institutional goals, to wit:

1.5 CORE COMPETENCY
In the Philippines, schools often do not explicitly define core competencies; instead, they are implied through student performance and faculty recognition. Core competencies are unique capabilities that distinguish an organization and provide competitive advantages, as introduced by C. K. Prahalad and Gary Hamel.

SECTION 2: ACADEMIC SOPPORT SYSTEM
The University of Mindanao (UM) offers a number of academic support systems, including scholarships, research grants, and a guidance center:
1. SCHOLARSHIPS
UM offers a variety of scholarships, including the Guillermo E. Torres Scholarship, the UM Honor Society, and the Academic Scholarship. Other scholarships include the Cultural Art Scholarship, the Athletics Scholarship, and the Student Publication Grants.
2. RESEARCH GRANTS
UM offers several research grants, including the Institutional Research Grant, the Dolores P. Torres Research Grant, and the Guillermo E. Torres Research Fellowship.
3. UNIVERSITY GUIDANCE CENTER
The University Guidance Center offers programs and services to help students grow and develop. The center's goal is to help students make good choices and decisions that will support their educational, social, and personal growth.
4. OFFICE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS (OSA)
The OSA is responsible for enforcing the Student Code of Conduct and approving activities for student-led organizations.
5. EXCHANGE STUDENT PROGRAMS
UM offers two exchange student programs: AIMS (ASEAN International Mobility for Students) and UMAP (University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific).

4.1. Freedom of Expression and Opinion:
- Students have the right to express opinions responsibly, address concerns, dress according to preference (within dress code), lodge complaints, assemble peacefully, speak freely on campus (subject to limits), and enjoy freedom of the press.
4.2. Right to Affordable Education:
- Students are entitled to quality education regardless of financial status, including access to scholarships and support programs.
4.3. Right to Information:
- Students can access their school records and important information, ensuring proper disclosure while safeguarding privacy.
4.4. Right to Due Process in Disciplinary Proceedings:
- Students must be informed of accusations, allowed to respond with counsel, and have the right to present and review evidence.
4.5. Right Against Undue Contributions:
